Burial Team

A few months after I graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, I boarded a flight to Liberia to cover the Ebola outbreak for The Wall Street Journal.

I knew it was dangerous, but going to Liberia answered something far more personal. The people in the West African countries of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone had been living a hell for months before I got there.

At that time the world acted like this was not their problem and I felt it was my responsibility to help document it. It would be many more months and over 10,000 dead before the virus and crisis was brought under control.

The following are images captured while shadowing burial teams throughout Liberia.
