During the Pope’s last visit to The United States, National Geographic published three environmental stories correlated to the cities he was visiting.
The stories included a dumping ground in the heart of an African American community in D.C., first-hand accounts of kids struggling with asthma in East Harlem, and a community of Philadelphia immigrants transforming blighted lots into green gardens and bringing nature back to the city.
